Good morning and a Merry Christmas! Today, I received an Oculus Rift as a gift. My computer is compatible with it, but it does not have an HDMI port. I used a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter:

During setup, the software read that the Rift's HDMI was not plugged in. Is miniDisplayPort not compatible with the Oculus Rift?

Does Oculus Rift work with HDMI to DisplayPort?

HDMI connection with third party adapter: at the moment, there are no adapters capable of operating in HDMI \u2192 DP mode. In case of news, we will update the article and include any supported adapters. Until then, we do not recommend using Rift S with PCs or laptops that do not have DisplayPort or Mini DisplayPort ports.

Can you use DisplayPort for VR?

If you have a VR-ready laptop with DisplayPort or Mini DisplayPort you should also be fine. Note that many laptops are not VR-ready. If your laptop has only HDMI video output, however, you're completely out of luck.
