Why does my Xbox One controller not work on Dark Souls 3 PC? - Blue Xbox Game Controller With Blue and White Buttons

I'm trying to play Dark Souls 3 on my PC and my controller is not detected at all. My controller is able to navigate Steam's Big Picture mode just fine, so I don't think this is a problem with my controller or the receiver. It works in other games as well. What can I do?

Best Answer

I was able to fix this by:

Going to Big picture mode > settings (cog icon) > controller settings > untick all except "guide button focuses steam"

Start the game and it works flawlessly.

Can you play Dark Souls 3 with an Xbox controller?

Unplug your console's power cable and leave it unplugged for a few minutes. Use a USB cable you know is good (try others if the first doesn't work) to connect your controller to the system. Plug your Xbox back in and turn it on using the power button on the system.
