Why did my train choose the blocked path at the junction?

Why did my train choose the blocked path at the junction? - Railroad Tracks in City

I am new to train signals. Here's a situation I don't understand:

OpenTTD train signals

There are three signals. The signal at the entry of the Y-junction (on the bottom right) is an "entry signal". The other two signals are "exit signals". There are two possible paths for the train. One path is blocked by a crashed train. The path other is free (as evidenced by the green light). Yet, the train decides to take the blocked path! Why?

How are path and block signals used?

Whenever there is more than one train on a track, there is the possibility that trains can crash into one another. To prevent trains from doing this, we place signals at intervals along the track and at crossings. A regular rail signal protects the rail block after it, up to the next signal or the end of the track.

How to stop trains from hitting each other factorio?

Block Signals can be placed on Railways to create 'Blocks' between each other. When a Train is occupying such a Block, other Trains will be unable to enter it. Caution: Signals are directional! Trains are unable to move against this direction, so be sure to set up Signals in both directions for bi-directional Railways.

How do block signals work satisfactory?

Most simply, a low voltage battery current runs up one rail and down the other. As long as current flows from the battery through one rail to the relay and back through the other rail, the relay remains energized and routes current from another battery to the green lamp of a clear signal.
