A friend of mine and I recently attempted to do a friend trade in Pokémon Home from remote locations. To our disappointment, we discovered that in order to do a friend trade, you must be within close proximity with each other.

After browsing through the help menu, I found the guidance that covers this and it does state friends must be close by. However, the guidance does not provide any information on the distance that is required. With that said, what required range in order to do friend trades in Pokémon Home?

In Pokémon Go, your friends must be within 100 meters (~328 feet) in order to trade with each other. Does Pokemon Home also have this 100 meter restriction, or is it different?

Do you have to be near a friend to trade Pokémon?

Trading allows you to exchange Pok\xe9mon with your friends and make progress on completing the Pok\xe9dex. Trading occurs in-person and in real-time so you'll need to be in close range of your friend in order to trade Pok\xe9mon.

Can you trade Pokémon with friends far away?

Yes, from November 2020, the distance trading function is available on Pokemon GO.

How do friend trades work in Pokémon HOME?

Once you've added your dear pal, head to the GTS menu and click \u201cFriend Trade.\u201d Select your trade partner, who will then receive a prompt to select you on their end. Once that's done, you'll be able to trade Pok\xe9mon. The process will need to be repeated for each trade performed.

Do you have to be in the same room to trade Pokémon?

While you can send them gifts from wherever you are, to actually trade with them, you have to be physically close together \u2014 the same goes for when you raid or battle a gym together.
