Giant gravestones in Forbidden Woods

So, I've always wondered why there were giant gravestones in the forbidden woods. It would suggest giant graves, but I've never come across anything big enough to warrant such enormous gravestones.

Is there any lore to explain their presence?

There is nothing lore-wise about those gravestones. I believe there are a few kneeling corpses in front of some of them, so the most likely explanation is that they mark graves for important people.

Where is forbidden grave?

The Forbidden Grave is an area found at the end of the Forbidden Forest. This is a boss area, where you fight the Shadow of Yharnam. Upon the bosses death, a lantern will spawn here. This area connects to Byrgenwerth.

At the end of the path are two corpses holding a Madman's Knowledge and Adept Blood Gemstone (2). Head back to the junction and this time, go right to find the Forbidden Woods lamp at the bottom of the hill. Just beyond the lamp is a cell to the right.
