Why do snipers wear dresses?

Why do snipers wear dresses? - Two Children Standing Near Concrete Fence

In Splatoon, there's a particular item of clothing, called the "SQUID GIRL Tunic" (based upon the outfit of a character in the "SQUID GIRL" anime)

It looks like this:

SQUID GIRL cross-promotion marketing

This is the only dress in the game. And surprisingly, it seems that the majority of people using long-range, slow-firing charger weapons to splat their opponents from the opposite side of the map will wear this dress while online.

This clothing piece seems much less frequently used by people using other weapons, but is very common for people whose play style focuses on sniping.

Other than style, why would those snipers prefer to wear the game's only dress, over any of the other clothing options available within the game?

What do snipers do if they are spotted?

A training sniper confers with his spotter. Once the shot is taken, the spotter watches the shot to help the sniper readjust his aim or his position in the unlikely event that he misses his target.

Are ghillie suits actually used?

Military personnel, police, hunters, and nature photographers may wear a ghillie suit to blend into their surroundings and conceal themselves from enemies or targets. The suit gives the wearer's outline a three-dimensional breakup, rather than a linear one.

Are snipers lonely?

Look for new ways to connect with people. In the field, snipers are usually accompanied by a spotter, so they are not completely alone. But they may not be able to talk and engage one another as they normally would, so they have to get a little creative.

Why is being a sniper different from being a regular soldier?

In addition to long-range and high-grade marksmanship, military snipers are trained in a variety of special operation techniques: detection, stalking, target range estimation methods, camouflage, field craft, infiltration, special reconnaissance and observation, surveillance and target acquisition.
