Why can't I get any new panels after moving Puzzle Swap to Game Vault and out again? - Couple getting carton boxes out of red car while relocating in new home

I accidentally added Puzzle Swap to Game Vault on my 3DS. I have undone that, but I don't seem to get any new puzzles since then. When I meet friends who I know to have panels I don't have, I get to a screen which doesn't offer any option to get new pieces:

Any idea what I can do to repair the game?

I have seen this question which seems quite similar, however, I didn't change the SD card so I don't have the old one to take files from. I have an old backup, but I'd rather not use it if it means to roll back the progress in all the games.

How do you get new puzzles in Puzzle Swap?

The only way to start a new puzzle after receiving your first piece is to pass by other 3DS owners who will send puzzle pieces from their puzzle boards. During the December 2011 update, the number of pieces in some puzzles have increased.

How many puzzles are in Puzzle Swap?

There are currently 42 Puzzle Swap panels (43 if you count a Japanese-exclusive variation of one puzzle), and Nintendo seems keen to keep pumping out new panels on a regular basis across the three main gaming regions.
