I noticed that the revival cost may be inferior to the caps and experience gained during exploration and the equipment found.
I checked out this question for understanding how much it costs to revive a dweller, and in the case illustrated in the best answer (I'll post the photo below) the cost of reviving is inferior to the total loot.
Is it always worth to send a dweller exploring, and let them go ahead till they die?

How long should you let your dweller explore?
My longest runs so far are around 36 hours of exploration and 18 hours return trip. The low level luck people I used to send out would still bring back rusty whatever guns and BB guns even towards the end of their trips.
