How are PP scores from 'Top Ranks' weighted?

How are PP scores from 'Top Ranks' weighted? - Top view of crop anonymous barefoot female measuring weight on scales on white background

On the user profile page, there is a list of 50 Top Ranks which each has a PP score:

The scores are weighted, as you can see on the right. I assume this weighted PP score is what goes into the total PP calculation.

The question is: How is this weight determined?

I have noticed at one time that the first score was weighted at a 100%, and the second was 98%, but it has changed since then. It seems like the weight gets smaller faster when the scores are higher?

What determines how much PP you get?

On an individual beatmap, pp is based on the difficulty of the song and one's accuracy score on the song. One can try over and over to improve their performance, but only the best performance on each beatmap will count.

How does OSU total PP work?

Each song is weighted, the more pp being the higher it's weighted. IE top pp play is weighted 100%, second top is weighted 95%, etc. Click on top ranks on your profile to check it out, and you'll be able to find the play you made that you think is worth 73pp be only weighted a little.
