Can overcooked 2 be shared?

The Friends on the other computer can you simply invite to the game. This can be done through inviting your friend through steam or you have to look at the bottem left and follow the instruction's in game. for the second player on the same pc you need to have at least one keyboard or controller.

Do you need two copies of overcooked?

It depends where you and your gf are? If she has her own steam account then she might want to buy a copy for herself. But if you guys are living together in same house then you can play as co-op mode or remote play together.

Do both people need overcooked to play online?

All players will need their own controller or keyboard to join the game when playing online. Can I team up with random players, or do I need to add people to my friends list? You can use the in-game lobby/matchmaking system to find other players in the Arcade and Versus modes.
