Are you supposed to be able to get this tear with a fronthop?

In Nayru's Silent Realm, there is one Nayru's Tear that is suspended in mid-air. This tear has a minecart nearby it which can be pulled under the tear to obtain it, however Waking Water pulsates under the minecart, making it difficult to pull it. On my first (failed) attempt at Nayru's Silent Realm, I didn't realize that the minecart was supposed to be pulled, so I was wondering how to get the tear. I tried a fronthop towards the tear and it worked. I thought that was the intended method until I noticed the minecart on my second attempt. I tried many times after that to obtain the tear with a fronthop, but could never manage to get it again.

Was the tear meant to be able to be picked up like this?
